It's been another busy week. Joe's been on a roll—he redid the master closet for me, so I needed to move all the stuff out and then back in, but it is so much nicer with bureaus and wooden shelves instead of those wire closet shelving units and drawers. I'm loving my new closet. He also decided to put the wainscoting and chair rail on the other three living room walls since it looked so good on the first one (that's the one he initially did because one of the dogs dug the hole in the wall), so we're going to get the material for that tomorrow. If you'll reply and share your prayer requests, I'd be honored to pray for you, as always.

I made it to chapter seven in my work in progress (about 17,000 words), so that's progressing quite nicely. This is for a project I haven't made public yet, but stay tuned because I expect to officially announce it in the next month or so.

Out on the farm, the animals are keeping us busy as always. The dogs thought I should get up at 4 a.m. this morning, but instead of staying up with them, I let them out and back in, then went back to bed. I wasn't quite ready to embrace the day. We lost a duck this week. She'd been lame for years and hadn't been well for a while, so it wasn't unexpected. On a happier note, the chicks are acclimating well to their newfound free-ranging freedom. They still don't venture too far from the coop, but yesterday they hung around the barn quite a bit. And today they're congregating by the big water bowl and playing behind the wheelbarrow as you can see in the video below.

I’ll be in Memphis this August for ACFW, and I would love to spend time with readers who love Christian fiction. One of the sweet things about Storyfest is that it brings readers and authors together in the same place. The event runs August 27-29, 2026, at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Storyfest includes author-hosted meals, reader events, author panels, a multi-author booksigning, lunch with Karen Kingsbury, and time with others who love Christian fiction. If you decide to register, please list Elle E. Kay in the “Referred By” field. That helps ACFW know who invited you. Bring a friend, your book club, and consider packing an extra suitcase for all the books you'll want to take home. You can register here: https://acfw.com/2026-storyfest-reader-registration/
