Memorial Day is a time to reflect on those who gave their lives protecting our country. Since, I'm writing this on Monday, I'm doing just that. My heart breaks for those who have lost a loved one to that ultimate sacrifice. We didn't get much reflecting done yesterday, as our son and his family came over for burgers. We enjoyed seeing the grandkids. The younger two were a bit rambunctious and squabbled with each other a bit. Nevertheless, it's always a joy to see them. As always, I'm taking prayer requests, and it's an honor to pray for your needs.

Did you hear? Midnight Masquerade is a Carol award finalist in the mystery / thriller / suspense category. The night they were announced, we were watching television, and my husband paused the show, so I hit play on the video. I was floored when I heard the title of my book. It's a huge honor to make the finals. In addition to my current work-in-progress, I'm working on a website redesign. I hope I'll have it done in time to unveil it next week.

While they were here, Ian (my son) and Leila (my daughter-in-law) went into the pen area without us to see how Sadie would act. She did better than expected. She let Ian pet her, but she didn't trust him enough to go into her pen area to eat, so it looks like she's not quite ready for anyone else to take on farm duties. I'm hoping I she'll adjust before the ACFW conference in August, so Joe can join me. In other news, the goats had another frenzied play time. You can check it out below.

The goal was simple: win the game and don’t get attached—but Alaska had a way of complicating everything.
Helene sometimes feels invisible, but with her sister's medical bills piling up, joining a reality survival show in the Alaskan wilderness seems like the only answer. If she wins the prize money, she can help her sister and finally prove to herself and everyone else that she has what it takes.
Theo has his own reasons for needing to win. The adventure store he’s dreamed about for years isn’t going to fund itself, and he can't afford any distractions, especially from Helene, the graceful woman who approaches him on the first day. When Helene is assigned to his team, he’s determined to keep her at arm’s length, but his best intentions falter when staying distant causes even more problems.
As the walls between them begin to fall, they realize their bond might be just as dangerous as it is irresistible. When something big happens during one of the competitions, threatening the team’s unity, they're forced to pull back, even as every instinct draws them closer.
When it's all over, the distance between them feels just as daunting as the Alaskan terrain. Theo sees a future worth risking everything for, but Helene won’t let him jeopardize his dream, even if it means walking away. They have to fight the wilderness, but love becomes the hardest challenge of all.
