Happy Wednesday!

Hi!

I hope you're doing well and had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Day.

The weather is finally warming up here. We even had a peek of sunshine a short while ago. While there is still quite a bit of ice and snow, it was above freezing most of yesterday, so we're hoping by the end of today or tomorrow the ice will have melted away. That will definitely make for happy goats when they can get to the grass once again and get a break from hay.

I hope the weather is favorable in your neck of the woods.

FROM MY WRITING DESK

As you know, I took a little break for the holidays, but I'm working on writing a short story now that I'm back as a way to ease myself back into the writing routine.

FARM NEWS

Animal care has felt a little like ice skating recently, hence my happiness about the recent warm up.

The goats wouldn't let me into the pen by myself this morning to care for the chickens and flip the bowls, they pushed their way in with me, and since it was so icy at the gate, I decided it was safer not to fight them.

My lovely ducks have been spending a good chunk of their days under the chicken tractor where I've been tossing some food, so they can eat without the goats bothering them. I've had to carry one of the girls out there most days though as she has trouble making it that far on her own.

Today, we have a video of Cassie Cat. If you listen closely, you can hear her little purr engine revving after she gets her cookies.

AMY CALDWELL

The only place that Oakleigh Davenport feels close to God is when she's out in the ocean riding the waves on her surfboard, which is ironic because feeling close to God is the family business.

Being an influencer, socialite, and daughter of a prominent megachurch pastor is no easy image to uphold. After a reputation destroying mistake, Oakleigh's world comes crashing down as she is forced to forfeit her social status, clout, and trust fund, leaving her to solely rely on the charity of others. Trading her surfboard for a pair of cowboy boots, she is exiled to Callaway Ranch, a little corner of the world that belongs to her Aunt Maeve, the whispered about black sheep of the family.

Through it all, she realizes that things aren't always as they seem and that family secrets run deep. As she searches to find her identity apart from everything she's ever known, Oakleigh discovers that her journey at Callaway Ranch comes complete with boundless love and compassion, handsome bull riders, and a soul-filling cup of cowboy coffee.
