I hope you had a wonderful week. Last week we had a death in the family (my aunt), which was why my last newsletter was a tad shorter than normal. We didn't see each other often. She lived in Arizona and I'm in Pennsylvania, but she was a wonderful aunt who always made me feel loved. Grief is a funny thing; it hits differently depending on the day, the hour, and the circumstances. Aunt Deb's funeral is this coming Monday. It'll be good to see family I almost never get to see, but I wish it were under happier circumstances that we got to catch up. I expect it'll be another emotional week.

Farmer Joe headed out to the pens on Monday to clean coops and take care of other farm chores before the snow came and made those tasks more difficult. Five inches of snow fell yesterday, so he switched into snow removal mode and plowed out the driveway with the tractor. I took a video of the dogs playing in the white stuff last night. You can view it below.

I'm actually working on something completely different—a 365 day devotional walk through the hymns. The title is "Pilgrimage of Praise." It won't be available until 2027, but I thought I'd share with you about it anyway. Don't worry, I haven't quit writing thrillers, but this particular project has been on my heart for a long time, and the time has come to write it.

Have you read any fabulous books lately? I'm in the process of reading two books. I'm reading Jessica Patch's latest: The Girl Upstairs and Angela Ruth Strong's A Caffeine Conundrum. Sometimes, Jessica's books can be a little too intense for bedtime reading, so I switch to something lighter.

With all her plans in pieces, it’s no wonder she starts feeling more than friendship for her supportive best friend Cody. Helping with her new ward could be just the opportunity to show her how much more he could be. Meanwhile, he’s also fighting to earn a promotion and impress his unpleasable police chief father by catching a home burglar and a Christmastime prankster. Neenah’s newly minted neighborhood watch might help him save Christmas and earn the job, if only the group didn’t bring complications of its own. As Neenah and Cody wrangle octogenarian vigilantes, Christmas bandits, and complicated families, the chemistry between them only grows. But if they act on it, they won’t be able to go back. With their friendship and careers on the line, is love worth the risk?
