I returned home from the American Christian Fiction Writer's (ACFW) Conference on Sunday afternoon after a long day of travel. I had little more than an hour's sleep after the gala before I needed to be up to catch my shuttle to the airport. It was wonderful to gather with like-minded writers, even if it's been an exhausting couple of days catching up on work (and sleep). And seeing some of my wonderful newsletter readers at the signing made it even more worthwhile. Thanks for coming out to see us. It was a fabulous turnout. The conference bookstore was jam packed with readers (and authors). I hope you're doing well. I didn't receive any prayer requests from my newsletter subscribers last week, so I hope that means you're all doing well and not that you hesitated to message me with a need since you thought I was busy. Making time for prayer is a must, so please, if you have something you'd like me to pray about, hit reply and let me know.

I took the fawn video before the conference. I thought you might enjoy it. Farmer Joe kept up with the animal upkeep while I was away, and I was greeted with plenty of love upon my return from our whole menagerie of critters. As for Sadie, she thinks she's cookie monster. Since the weather cooled, she's been eating more and devouring her treats. Last night, she was in a frenzy barking, and got Callie and a neighboring dog to join in on the ruckus. Didn't keep me up too long, but Joe may have lost some sleep.

Only a few more days until the audiobook for Inspired by the Hero arrives. I'm a bit crazy trying to get my November releases finished in time, so it might take a while to get it uploaded, but I'll take care of that as soon as I can.

Excerpt from Corralling the Cowboy

Colorado was her safe haven. She’d left Angelique back in Philadelphia and had become a new woman. A fresh start. Her new name fit her about as well as stuffing a six by nine hardback into a book cozy made for a mass market paperback. She’d never quite felt like a Bethany. In her mind, she’d always be Angel. It would be foolish to indulge in the fantasy of returning to her past life. Some things were better left behind. She swiped away a tear at the memory of her mother’s face. Soon she would forget the sound of her voice. They hadn’t allowed her to bring pictures or video with her, and they’d given strict instructions that she wasn’t to visit social media pages of family and friends. The break needed to be a clean one. Sealed tightly away in her mind, never to be brought to light again. Yet, it felt like the past was encroaching on the present, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. But that wasn’t possible. It was nothing more than paranoia. A prickle of unease ran down her spine, hinting at unseen eyes somewhere in the distance, so she cast a final glance over her shoulder just to be sure she was alone.

Roman Rivers has portrayed adventurous characters for years, but the role of pseudo-dad to a feisty little girl—now teen—was one he never saw coming, especially at the height of his career. Though he’s managed to keep her out of the limelight, it’s come at a cost, which is why he decides to bring a woman into their world, hoping she’ll be a positive influence on the girl he’ll do anything for. But Roman never expected that woman to challenge everything he thought he knew about parenthood or to stir up a longing for a life more enticing than he’d ever imagined.
Cookin' up something sweet has never been this delicious... But they didn’t prep for romance on the menu.
