By the time you read this, I'll be in Missouri for the American Christian Fiction Writer's (ACFW) Conference, Lord willing. I hope you're doing well. If you have any prayer requests, please send them, and even if I don't get a chance to reply before I return home, I'll be checking email and praying.

We had a visit from my son's family on Sunday and had dinner out on the new deck. While they were here, our grandson Grey insisted on multiple trips to the barn and coops to look for eggs, but only collected two. Our eldest grandson, Wesley, spent most of his time on his tablet, but he did enjoy his dinner. I spent a few minutes teaching our granddaughter, Dahlia, a few notes on the piano. She learned how to play the beginning of "Deep and Wide." I should've recorded her playing, but I didn't think of it. He wanted to pet Cassie (the cat), but she was having none of that and ran away any time he got close.

Thank you all for helping me to get over 1,000 subscribers on YouTube. The audiobook for Inspired by the Hero is nearly ready. My narrators (Nick and Emily) have sent it off to their editor, so in a couple more weeks, I'll get the final recording, send it out to my audiobook ARC team, and upload it to YouTube and the usual sales and streaming channels. As you know, I’ll be in Springfield, Missouri, for the ACFW conference! If you’re in the area, stop by to say hello on Saturday, September 6th. The multiauthor book-signing is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the University Plaza Hotel).
Hope to see you there!

Excerpt from The Bodyguard's Fake Bride

Amy stabbed her pinkie on a thorn tossing the bouquet of black roses in the trash. Leaning back in her leather desk chair, she sucked on her injured finger. Taking a deep breath, she bent forward and pressed the button to listen to her voice mail. The familiar voice left a hollow feeling in the pit of her stomach. She pressed the number three on her phone to delete the message and move on to the next one. Zach. He needed to meet with Seamus McPherson. The feeling in her stomach turned to flutters. Seamus had returned to Southern California. Zach rarely made last-minute schedule changes, so whatever he wanted to see her former bodyguard about, it must be important. Opening her boss’ calendar, she entered the appointment he’d requested and buzzed their shared assistant, Marjorie. “Zach had a sudden schedule change; can you reschedule his appointments for the rest of the day?” “Sure thing.” Marjorie’s deep smoker’s voice crackled over the intercom. Amy hadn’t seen or heard from Seamus since he’d returned to Virginia nine months earlier. She couldn’t fathom what this meeting could be about.
