Happy Wednesday!

Hello there,

It's a warm day here in North Central Pennsylvania. The sheep are breathing heavily, so I think they're looking forward to autumn's arrival. I'm enjoying the warmth while it lasts even if some days are a touch hotter than I'd like.

How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Hope all is well. Let me know how I can pray for you this week.

FARM NEWS

Farmer Joe rakes the main part of the barn every morning, but a couple of times a year, he also rakes the hay/straw out of the two stalls the goats and sheep sleep in. He did one of the two yesterday and while he was at it, he cleaned both coops and spread manure. He's planning to rake out the second stall tomorrow, Lord willing.

You may remember the recent egg hunt. Well, we finally found the bulk of the eggs. I think I mentioned that Joe had found a stash of duck eggs in the chicken tractor, but upon closer inspection, most of those were actually chicken eggs, and we think it must've been where the hen was sitting before abandoning her eggs. So, we had to clean up some pretty nasty eggs. Today is trash day, so good riddance to them.

Sadie was eating better for a week or so while the temps were cooler, but now that the heat is back, her appetite is once again waning. I don't blame her. I don't eat as much in the summer, either.

FROM MY WRITING DESK

I've been dictating scenes for two upcoming releases while I walk the dogs in the morning. Dictation is taking some getting used to, but I think it'll be an effective way to get my daily word count in. Only time will tell.

In other news, I'm looking forward to the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) conference in a couple of weeks. We'll be having a book signing, so be sure to stop by if you're in the Springfield, Missouri area.

Excerpt from
PERSUADED BY THE HERO

Dan slammed his foot on the brake at the sound of mortar fire. His truck spun out of control on the snow-covered road before coming to a stop.

Missiles exploded in every direction. The pungent odor of burning flesh and gun powder turned his stomach.

He struggled to exit his vehicle and scanned the horizon for the enemy.

All he could see were colorful lights illuminating the night sky.

He sunk to his knees. Fireworks. It was fireworks. He’d almost lost touch with reality and retreated into the recesses of his mind where war still raged.

Would he ever stop reliving it?
