It's a warm week here on the farm. Hope you're staying cool in your neck of the woods. Joe's been out in the heat putting the finishing touches on the deck. It looks fabulous. Marrying a carpenter has its advantages. Speaking of which, he put a new ceiling fan in the kitchen for me yesterday (the motor on the old one died about a year ago, but I didn't ask him to replace it until two days ago). As life gets busy and summer winds down, things can fall behind, but let's not let prayer be one of those things. Please keep reaching out with your prayer requests.

It seems our Sadie (our Maremma Sheepdog) got stung by a wasp (or something like that) as she had what looked like a swollen bite on her rump. We sprayed it with Blue Kote. I'd have preferred to use something else, but she didn't want me touching it. Maybe when it isn't so tender, she'll let me get a better look at it. In chicken news, the hens are hiding their eggs. We tried keeping them in a little longer in the morning, but we have a couple of hens that like eating them, so all I found was a sloppy mess. Needless to say, we're not keeping them in any more as I don't want to encourage that behavior. I've looked high and low, but I can't find their stash. (The video above showcases my Easter Egg hunt.) Joe did find two hidden piles of duck eggs this morning, but no chicken eggs. We'll keep searching.

The votes are in for the prequel. The Pennsylvania Parks series won five-to-one over Toxic Truths. So, I'm getting started on the prequel for Grayson and Jenna's story. Keep a lookout for it. I'm finally over 700 subscribers on YouTube! I would be grateful if you would subscribe to help me reach 1K for full monetization. And thanks to all who have already done so. You are a real blessing.

The stranger had eyes like ice. Cold and distant. She assumed he was Reece Mclean aka Maurice Moretti. He used two lengths of rope to bind her ankles and wrists then stuffed her into a tent. “Scream, and I’ll shoot you.” The fact that he didn’t gag her told her nobody who would care would hear her screams even if he hadn’t threatened her into silence. None of her self-defense courses or shooting range time prepared her for someone sneaking up behind her and pointing a gun at her skull. When she’d been held captive the last time, she hadn’t been able to save herself, but a voice inside told her that if she wanted to survive this, she’d need to find a way to do just that.

One Last Shot was another great book from Susan May Warren. Both main characters struggle with self-loathing that they need to overcome before they can make room in their lives for each other. As they draw closer together—and eventually to God—they face unexpected challenges that test their growing bond. While this is technically a suspense novel with a lurking threat, Warren focuses more on showcasing the inherent risks of rescue work than creating a typical 'running for their lives' thriller.
