Hope you had a wonderful week. One of our hens has gone broody (sitting on eggs) somewhere beyond the pasture fence, and I'm not entirely sure where she's staked her claim. I caught a glimpse of her early one morning keeping company with our old rooster (the independent fellow who prefers the barn to the coop), but she's been a mystery ever since. I hope she's found herself a safe, hidden spot. Speaking of animal drama, that bear I mentioned last week seems to have stirred up enough trouble to catch official attention. The game commission positioned a trap just down the road from us, though it sits empty still. He's proven himself to be quite crafty. After a long weekend, Joe returned to work today. He spent most of his time off rebuilding our deck and replacing the old wood with Trex. He still has to put the railings in, but it looks good so far. As for me, I've been busy with all the activities that go along with owning a small publishing business. I covet your prayers for helping me discern God's will on where to focus my efforts. It's easy to pick up and start something without knowing for sure if you're in God's will as you do it. As always, if you have anything weighing on your heart that you'd like me to pray about, please don't hesitate to reach out. It's truly a privilege to lift you up in prayer.

It's fly season, so we put down some food grade diatomaceous earth in the coops to keep them under control. Tom turkey is still pulling his "prefer to stay inside" routine. We let him stay up on his shelf yesterday, but this morning I coaxed him out. Can't have him spending too much time indoors. As for the goats, it seems Penny broke a second horn. It has a split in it, but hasn't broken off fully like the other one did. She must get a little too violent when butting heads with the other goats. Poor thing. The good news is that it's far enough up the horn that there's no bleeding to worry about. And in sheep news, Hannah was hollering up a storm this morning because I wasn't getting her sweet feed to her fast enough. She's quite the character. Our sheep are thirteen, and they say sheep only live eight to twelve years. I guess we're doing something right if she's still boisterous enough to give me a talking-to in the morning.

I am working on the second book in my Toxic Truths series, Midnight Masquerade. I started from scratch, scrapping what I wrote previously and creating a new outline. The outline is complete, so I'm working on scene cards now before I do the actual writing. I'm planning an October 8th release, which should give me time to write it, get in two edits, and then send it off to beta readers. As long as I stick to the writing schedule, all will be well. Lord willing, while that one is being edited by Patti, I'll be writing my final Christmas in Redemption Ridge book, Clearing the Cowboy's Name. It'll release on November 19, 2025. Lastly, I could really use your help reaching 1,000 subscribers on YouTube. Once I do, my channel can be fully monetized and I can be paid for listens on my audiobooks. To help, simply subscribe and then click on the button below to enter the contest to win the audiobooks from my website (delivered through BookFunnel—their audiobook app is excellent and easy to use).
