Happy Wednesday!

Hello there,

Hope you had a lovely week.

Ours was mixed.  I had a niece (Savanna) and a nephew (David) who both graduated high school, so we're super happy for them and excited for their plans, but it's a little heartbreaking that they've grown up so fast.

Our granddaughter Dahlia's soccer team (coached by our daughter-in-law) won the championship on Saturday, so that was wonderful. They even got to be in the Berwick parade. I did a live on YouTube streaming it. I think our grandson, Grey, had the most fun gathering up all the candy tossed his way.

After a battle with cancer, a friend and sister-in-Christ graduated to Glory to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus and I'm delighted for her. But also sad to see her leave. We'll miss her terribly. Please pray for Judy's family and friends.

If you have anything you'd like me to pray about, as always, please reply and let me know. It's a privilege to add you to my prayers.

FARM NEWS

There are a couple of good-sized bears roaming the neighborhood, so our livestock guardian dog, Sadie, has been keeping watch even more diligently than usual. She's even taken up howling if last night's chorus is any indication.

This morning our beautiful Maremma Sheepdog had her hair brushed. I kept all the fur in a plastic bag. But she jumped up to chastise her goats and dumped the entire bag in the process requiring me to rake the barn.

Isn't she cute?

Farmer Joe gave the goats their copper boluses today.

The German Shepherds, Maddison and Callie, have been finding mud to play in at every opportunity.

FROM MY WRITING DESK

I've been hard at work preparing Project Sentinel for release.

Cover reveal graphics went out last week, but I've since changed the cover. Have to keep you on your toes. Email or message me or Crystal for new graphics if you need them and if your design savvy, feel free to make your own. It's always fun to see what everyone posts. I'd love it if you'd tag me in Instagram and Facebook posts so I can see what you came up with.

If you're on my ARC team and wondering why you haven't received your copy yet, it's not because you were removed from the team. I'm way behind on my release tasks for this book, so I haven't sent them yet, but they should go out tomorrow.

Persuaded by the Hero will be delivered to me soon from my audiobook narrators, Emily and Nick. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when it's uploaded.

EXCERPT FROM PROJECT SENTINEL

When Thaddeus was assigned as his handler, they’d formed a tenuous working relationship. Faith was a wall between them that kept them from growing close at first, but over time they became friends, and their bond grew tight. Their third year working together, Thad led him to the Lord. It was a gift he couldn’t repay, but he would honor his friend’s memory and sacrifice by protecting his widow. That’s what he kept telling himself. But no matter how many times he repeated it, it didn’t ring true. His past with Faith was tangled, but the more time he spent remembering, the more obvious it became that she was far more than a mission.

She might not believe she had the evidence, but if he could convince her she’d hidden the files, together they might find them. Maybe if he’d pushed Thad harder when he was alive instead of accepting his plan to involve Faith, they wouldn’t be in this mess.

But as things stood, he needed to persuade Faith to believe him. He frowned. As long as her memories remained buried, he might have a fighting chance of gaining her trust. A stab of guilt shot through him at the deception by omission, but he couldn’t let his feelings keep him from doing what was right. He’d simply have to hope she’d forgive him for manipulating her.

PAMELA HUMPHREY

She wakes up in the back of a van, and her whole world changes.

Injured and afraid—with no recollection of who she is—she stumbles through the Texas Hill Country with a photo labeled Claire. Seeking safety, she knocks at Alex’s cabin door.

He protects her, even though she stirs up memories that haunt him.

She wants her life back. He wants to ease his guilt and will protect her even if it means risking his own life.

Together they search, hoping questions will be answered by finding Claire.

WHAT I'M READING

I'm currently reading Colleen Coble and Rick Acker's What We Hide. It's the first book in their Tupelo Grove series. It seems to be loosely connected to Colleen's Pelican Harbor series, which I'm enjoying.

I'm not quite halfway through it yet, but I'm definitely intrigued. We have stolen artifacts, squirrely professors, false accusations and more.

I'm not sure if I've ever given a content warning, but I think it's necessary for this one. It deals with a couple in a struggling marriage who lost a young child.
